Amazon cargo plane overshoots Miami runway, crashes into vehicles and catches fire

Multiple vehicles were struck sparking a fire and sending plumes of smoke into the sky following an Amazon cargo plane barreled off the runaway and crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, forcing one of the US busiest airports to close all of its runways.

The aircraft overran the runway mid afternoon after heading into Florida from San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Social media images showed the Prime Air aircraft lying beside a road, near two parked semi-trucks. The plane appeared to have landed on its underside and remained largely intact, despite being engulfed by fire.

There was no immediate word on casualties in the incident involving a Boeing 767 operated by Amazon Prime Air, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and Miami International Airport.
