Amazon’s Tomb Raider series is officially moving forward, and now this much-anticipated project has taken a major step towards production by finalising its cast. This live-action project is being developed as part of a large-scale shared universe to push their aim of delivering to this franchise’s fans.
This shared universe will include the upcoming series, new Tomb Raider games, and, most likely, a big-budget movie that might enter production if these initial projects receive a desirable reception.
The cast reveal suggests that Amazon intends to treat the Tomb Raider series as a well-made prestige property rather than a straightforward action adaptation. A bunch of big-name actors are set to appear in this project in roles that suggest the creators are preparing a story not just focused on the titular character, but filled with an interesting range of individuals with deep motives of their own.

Amazon has already shared an image of Sophie Turner sporting an incredibly faithful Lara Croft look. Fans are quite happy with this, and many are relieved, given the fact that those who see video game characters for a long time want actors playing them on the big screen to look picture-perfect.

Series creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s involvement suggests that fans are in for a treat, as this actress and writer has yet to deliver a shoddy product. On the other hand, Amazon has already proven it respects the source material of its projects by giving fans a more than adequate example in the Fallout TV series, which is currently going through an excellent second season.
‘Tomb Raider’ fans are in for a treat

For any hardcore Tomb Raider fan out there, the next couple of years are going to be a blast. Besides the Tomb Raider Amazon TV series, they will be getting two new games, one of which will be a complete remake of the first game in the franchise that was released years ago for the PlayStation 1, and the second will be a new adaptation that will take the Tomb Raider line forward with a story set in India.
