The BJP candidates dominated the Ambala Municipal Corporation election on Wednesday, winning 16 out of 20 wards, while Congress won three wards and Independent won one ward.

BJP’s Akshita Saini won the mayoral election. She was polled 52,794 votes, while Congress candidate Kulwinder Kaur was polled 31,436 votes. Independent candidate Sonia Rani secured 21,730 votes.

The BJP has won ward 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18 and 20. The Congress candidates won ward 8, 14 and 19, while ward 15 was won by Independent candidate.

After winning the election, the BJP took out a roadshow in Ambala City to express gratitude to the voters for supporting the BJP candidates.

BJP district in-charge Dharam Veer Mirzapur, said the victory has given a boost to the party and it will have an impact in the Punjab election too.

The former minister of the state, Aseem Goel said the people of Ambala have shown faith in the policies of the BJP and the newly elected members and mayor will make all efforts to fulfil the expectations of the people of Ambala.

Saini also expressed gratitude to the people of Ambala and party’s leadership for giving her the opportunity and said, “I am grateful for the love and support that I have received. I will work for the people of Ambala.”

The AAP and INLD have extended their support to the independent candidate for the mayoral election.
