Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Lion Ambulance Services Society (KK LASS) will host the Charity Fun Run – Run to Save Lives 4.0, a 7km event aimed at raising funds to support their free emergency ambulance services, at SJK (C) Chung Hwa, Likas, on Nov 24

In addition to raising funds, the event aims to raise public awareness on the free emergency ambulance services provided by the society and to promote health through morning exercise.

Since its inception in March 2011, KK LASS has been a vital part of the community, offering free emergency ambulance services to the people of Kota Kinabalu and the surrounding areas.

“However, to continue our operations and maintain the high standard of service, we need to raise RM300,000 annually. The Run to Save Lives 4.0 is an important part of our fundraising efforts.

A total of 23 Lions Clubs from Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, and Tuaran, with approximately 600 members, are supporting KK LASS in providing ambulance services in the Kota Kinabalu area.

Registration is now open, with an Early Bird fee of only RM70 available until Oct 10. Starting Oct 11, the fee will return to the regular rate of RM90.

For runners aged 18 and below, the registration fee is RM50.

The closing date for registration is Nov 11. Participants will receive a T-shirt, goodie bag, and chance to win the lucky draw prizes.

Registration forms can be obtained at the KK LASS Call Centre, downloaded from Facebook @kklionsambulance, or completed online at www.kklionsambulance.org.my.

The Charity Fun Run was first launched in 2017 and held annually until the pandemic. It is returning this year with “Run to Save Lives 4.0”.

The event aims to attract 2,000 runners and raise RM300,000. Donations to KK LASS are tax-exempt.

“We urge the public, companies and corporations to support us through participation, donations and sponsorships, allowing us to continue the seamless operation of this life-saving project,” it said.

“On the event day, there will also be a CPR demonstration, health services such as diabetes testing, and booths available for rent at RM100.”

KK LASS complements the Government’s efforts in transforming the community and health services provided to the rakyat.
