KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 - Parti Keadilan Rakyat information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said party vice-president Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari will fully assume the post of election director.
He added that Keadilan’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) has granted Nurul Izzah Anwar a temporary leave of absence from her duties as party deputy president, effective after the party’s national congress.
He said the decision was reached during an MPP meeting today after deliberating Nurul Izzah’s request to step down from the position.
Fahmi, who is also federal communications minister, said the MPP also agreed for Keadilan vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to assume the duties of deputy president in the interim.
“After hearing the views of Nurul Izzah and the leadership, the MPP agreed to grant her a temporary leave of absence until a date to be announced,” he said in a statement today.
Fahmi said Nurul Izzah will officiate the Keadilan Women and Youth congresses on August 14, ahead of the national congress in Melaka from August 15 to 16.
He added that the MPP accepts and respects the outcomes of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan elections.
“The party extends its appreciation to all those who worked tirelessly during the two state elections and expresses its gratitude to former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun for his excellent service over the past two terms,” Fahmi said.
The MPP also approved the admission of 3,533 new members who registered online between July 12 and August this year.
