THE Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has imposed stricter conditions on temporary licence holders selling festive items such as lemang, ketupat and firecrackers during the Aidilfitri period, in a move aimed at maintaining traffic flow and public order.

In a statement, the local authority said the measures will be enforced from 17 to 23 March, covering the peak period of seasonal trading activity.

"All traders are required to provide RELA personnel or security guards to manage traffic at their respective sales locations," it said.

The council also urged traders to ensure that customers’ vehicles are not parked along roadways in a manner that disrupts traffic movement.

“Strict action, including immediate closure, will be taken if the instructions are not complied with or if sales activities cause disturbance.”

MPAJ said traffic control would be intensified along several key routes, including Jalan MRR2, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Kolam Ayer Lama, where congestion is expected to increase due to festive trading activities.

The directive reflects growing concerns over road safety and congestion during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season, when roadside stalls and high customer turnout often contribute to traffic bottlenecks.

Members of the public seeking further information have been advised to contact the MPAJ Licensing and Entrepreneur Development Department. - March 20, 2026
