It was an afternoon of friendship, culture and hospitality as Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe Lhuillier and his wife, Edna Lhuillier, hosted an intimate luncheon at Museo P. Lhuillier in Antipolo City.
Organized by Marieliese Saldana Evaristo and Camille Lhuillier, the gathering brought together friends, former diplomats, society personalities and members of the Lhuillier family, including former Sen. Cynthia Villar; former Ambassador to Russia Victor Garcia III and his wife, Connie; Nona Ricaforte, Chona Lopez, Mita Rufino, Nini Licaros, Fe Rodriguez, Hi Society, Jorge Hizon and his wife, and Frieda Hizon.
The luncheon marked a brief homecoming for Lhuillier, who took the opportunity to reconnect with family and friends and share the museum, a deeply personal expression of his life, travels and interests.
After lunch, guests were personally guided through the museum’s four levels, where they viewed a collection of European art, religious pieces, antiques, furniture, silver and historic objects gathered over many years.
Among the highlights were European paintings and sculptures, antique Baroque, Rococo and Victorian furniture, religious works and a striking Arabian horseman. The museum also houses the Kapilya de Santa Rosa de Lima, a meaningful space reflecting Lhuillier’s devotion to the saint.
Beyond its art and antiques, Museo P. Lhuillier offers a glimpse into Lhuillier’s diplomatic career and the Lhuillier family heritage, with photographs, memorabilia and a recreation of an early Cebuana Lhuillier pawnshop.
Lhuillier’s diplomatic career began in 1999 and has included postings in Italy, Portugal and Spain. The museum serves as a visual diary of a life lived between cultures.
With his diplomatic career expected to wind down by the end of 2027, Lhuillier looks forward to spending more time with family and friends and sharing the treasures and stories that have accompanied his journey.
The afternoon was more than a luncheon. It was a gathering centered on friendship, family, art, faith, diplomacy and heritage, offering guests a glimpse into the life of a diplomat and collector whose career has helped strengthen ties between the Philippines and Europe.
