Andrew’s former home up for grabs after royals shun lease

  • The 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park is set to be put back up for lease by the Crown Estate from October, as it has been reported that no members of the royal family wish to move in.
  • Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, vacated the mansion in February following revelations regarding his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, relocating to the Sandringham estate.
  • Any prospective tenant must pass strict security checks and cover an estimated £400,000 annual maintenance and upkeep bill.
  • The new occupant will also be required to grant the royal family access to the Royal Chapel of All Saints, which sits on the grounds.
  • A National Audit Office report previously revealed Andrew paid only peppercorn rent for the property while generating private income by subletting three cottages on the estate.
