Andy Gray lands first UK commentary role for 15 years after sexism row

  • Former Everton player Andy Gray is returning to UK broadcasting on TalkSport to co-commentate on Liverpool’s Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid at Anfield alongside Jim Proudfoot.
  • This marks Gray's first UK commentary role since 2011, when he was dismissed by Sky Sports after being recorded making sexist and derogatory comments regarding assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis and female match officials.
  • Following his dismissal from Sky Sports and the resignation of co-host Richard Keys, Gray spent over a decade working for beIN Sports in Qatar until their contract expired at the end of last season.
  • Since returning to the UK, Gray and Keys have launched a podcast entitled Keys & Gray Unleashed, with Gray having recently expressed a desire in an interview to return to radio broadcasting.
  • Gray was originally fired from Sky Sports after further footage emerged of him making a lewd comment to presenter Charlotte Jackson, alongside wider evidence of misogynistic behavior during broadcasts.
