Severe downpours in Florida wreaked havoc on the Miami Open schedule, with Andy Murray and Jannik Sinner among a host of players who had their second-round matches suspended due to rain.

Murray will resume play on Saturday against Argentina’s Tomas Etcheverry with the score tied at 3-3 in the first set.

Australian Open champion Sinner’s first set against fellow Italian Andrea Vavassori was on serve after five games, while Canada’s Denis Shapovalov held a 2-1 advantage after an early break in his first set with Greek 10th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.

In Friday’s completed matches, fifth seed Andrey Rublev was upset 6-4 6-4 by Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic while 14th seed Ugo Humbert defeated Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4 6-3.
