KUALA LUMPUR – Another senior officer in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) has come under the radar of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) following allegations of procurement-related irregularities.
Sources said the officer, believed to be in his 50s, is expected to be called in to give a statement soon, after MACC previously detained another senior ATM officer in connection with the same case.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has confirmed that investigations involving another senior officer are under way.
“I urge all parties to give the authorities space to carry out a thorough investigation and to refrain from speculation that could affect the process,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian (BH).
Initial investigations have uncovered signs of organised bribery involving officers from the Malaysian Army (TDM), with MACC now examining the possibility of a wider network implicating several other individuals.
The seven-day remand application involving the senior officer, who is also the main suspect in the case, was aimed at probing allegations of systematically arranged bribe-taking, a source said.
“MACC is also tracking the involvement of several other officers, indicating the existence of a broader corruption network linked to procurement within the agency,” the source added.
At the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah allowed the former Malaysian Army chief to be remanded for seven days, while his wife was remanded for six days and another wife for three days.
MACC has also seized six bank accounts believed to belong to the senior army officer and his family members, and has opened an investigation under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. – January 10, 2026
