TEL AVIV - The Israeli Air Force has once again killed a high-ranking Hezbollah commander in an attack in the Lebanese capital Beirut - this time the head of the Hezbollah headquarters, Suhail Hussein Husseini, the German news agency (dpa) reported.

Husseini was killed in a targeted attack on Monday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday morning. He was also a member of the Jihad Council of Hezbollah, the IDF said.

"Husseini played a crucial role in weapon transfers between Iran and Hezbollah," the IDF said in a statement.

He was also responsible for distributing advanced weapons among units of the Shiite group and "for the budgeting and logistical management of Hezbollah's most sensitive projects".

These included war planning and special operations against Israel from Lebanon and Syria. - BERNAMA-dpa
