- Anthony Gordon made an instant impact as Barcelona sealed a 5-0 away win over Elche in their opening La Liga match of the season on Sunday.
- Gordon, who joined Barcelona in a £70 million deal from Newcastle earlier this summer, replaced Lamine Yamal in the 65th minute of the game.
- Just two minutes after coming off the bench, Gordon set up Raphinha to make it 3-0, after the Brazilian star and Karim Adeyemi had given Barcelona a 2-0 half-time lead.
- Then, in the 71st minute, Gordon got his second assist as he raced clear before squaring the ball for Fermin Lopez to tap home.
- Lopez added his second of the game shortly afterwards to complete a thumping win, as Barcelona made a strong start to their title defence and Gordon finished with two assists on debut.
