KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has highlighted the need for Cabinet members to consider major policy shifts to strengthen national resilience in industry and the economy.
He said he had raised the matter with Cabinet members earlier today, emphasising that Malaysia had the resources, human capital, discipline and resilience needed to move forward.
Anwar said he remained optimistic that Malaysia could forge ahead as a great nation through continued efforts by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and collaboration with industry players.
He was speaking at the Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2026 at Menara MITI here today.
Also present were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the government played a pivotal role in ensuring stability and formulating economic and national policies with confidence.
He cited the New Industrial Master Plan, the energy transition and digital transformation, stressing that clear policies must be matched by effective execution.
“In most countries, they can introduce and come up with some impressive plans, but there is no certainty that they will be able to execute them effectively.
“So the role of not only the bureaucracy but, more importantly, industrial players is critical,” he added.
