Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Li Qiang hold talks in Hangzhou to strengthen Malaysia-China strategic ties and cooperation
HANGZHOU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang on Thursday to further strengthen strategic ties and cooperation between Malaysia and China.
The meeting, which began at noon at the West Lake State Guest House here, was among the key engagements on the final day of Anwar’s three-day working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, was accompanied by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Malaysian Ambassador to China Datuk Norman Muhamad, among others.
The two leaders were expected to review the progress of bilateral projects and explore new areas of strategic cooperation under the Malaysia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
The talks are also in line with efforts to build a High-Quality Malaysia-China Strategic Community with a Shared Future, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping’s initiatives, including the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI).
