Anwar Ibrahim's recent tactics in Parliament regarding the Zahid Hamidi DNAA issue have raised questions about his motives and transparency.

Instead of addressing the crucial matter at hand, he chose to create a diversion by accusing another MP, Radzi Jidin, without concrete evidence.

This move, which led to an opposition walkout, only added to the chaos and confusion in the Dewan Rakyat. It's a black day in Parliament as claimed by the Opposition.

Anwar's initial claim that he had never discussed the DNAA for Zahid with the attorney-general was contradicted by his veiled comments directed at Radzi. The fact that he refused to retract the allegation against Radzi caused the rukus.

Such behaviour only adds to the cynicism surrounding this issue. Accusations without evidence not only undermine the dignity of those targeted but also erode the credibility of the entire parliamentary process.

The opposition rightly demanded that Anwar retract his accusation and question the speaker's handling of the situation to no avail.

It goes without saying that it is essential to maintain decorum and respect in Parliament, and baseless allegations do not contribute to a productive and accountable political environment. Coming from a PM, such behaviour is indeed unbecoming and regrettable.

In the end, Anwar's diversionary tactics only succeeded in sidestepping a crucial issue while further polarizing the political landscape.

Instead of focusing on matters of national importance, such as the DNAA for a Deputy Prime Minister, we witnessed a regrettable spectacle of personal attacks and political manoeuvring, which resulted in the opposition bloc walking out and the PM let off the hook. It's the public that's left dissatisfied.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for greater maturity and responsibility in our parliamentary discourse.

But then again, in local politics, under current administration may be decorum is not on top of its priority list.

Perhaps there is a lot of growing up to do before we attain maturity and responsibility in our Parliament.
