Anwar's trade missions yield RM59.5b in potential investments

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 - Fourteen official visits and trade and investment missions led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani were conducted from 2025 to September 2026 through the country's trade and investment agencies.

The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said the missions were undertaken through the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), generating RM59.5 billion in potential investments.

Of the total, RM14.2 billion in investments have been approved, while the remaining RM45.3 billion are at various stages of negotiation and are being continuously followed up, MITI added.

"As for the breakdown of realised investments, a project typically takes between 18 and 24 months to materialise, depending on its scale, complexity and prevailing economic conditions," MITI said in a written Dewan Rakyat reply today.

It added that MIDA would continue its follow-up, monitoring and facilitation efforts to ensure identified investment opportunities translate into actual project implementation.
