Malaysia and Singapore will launch the JS-SEZ master plan by year-end, following RM132 billion in investments, with Nexus Sedenak targeting 45,000 jobs.
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Singapore counterpart Lawrence Wong will jointly launch the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) master plan and blueprint by the end of this year, marking a major step in advancing the cross-border economic initiative.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the JS-SEZ had recorded RM132 billion in investments between 2025 and June 2026, highlighting growing investor interest in the economic zone.
He said Nexus Sedenak would emerge as a new industrial hub in the northern JS-SEZ, with the potential to attract RM12 billion in investments and create 45,000 jobs, supported by road upgrades and improved connectivity to major ports and regional trade networks.
A special task force will also be established under the “Queen Bee” approach to coordinate cross-agency negotiations and attract leading companies in strategic sectors to invest in the economic zone.
Meanwhile, Anwar said Forest City’s Single Family Office (SFO) scheme would offer zero tax on qualifying income for up to 20 years, while a new Multi-Family Office (MFO) model would allow licensed fund managers to serve multiple families, including approved SFO funds.
