Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim calls for improved civil service performance to ensure optimal public benefits, with close monitoring by top officials

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on civil servants to deliver stronger performance to ensure the public receives optimal benefits from government services.

He instructed the Chief Secretary to the Government and the Public Service Director-General to closely monitor civil servant performance nationwide.

Anwar said this call for improvement is timely alongside adjustments under the new Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA).

“I have instructed the KSN, KPPA and, in particular, the Treasury Secretary-General to ensure the performance of civil servants surpasses what we have previously recorded,” he said.

He stated the MADANI government remains committed to civil servant welfare, which prompted the SSPA implementation.

In August, Anwar announced retirees and derivative pension recipients would receive pension adjustments matching active civil servants’ increases.

The adjustments for officers choosing the SSPA scheme will be implemented in two phases.

Officers will receive an 8% salary adjustment in Phase 1 this December, followed by a 7% adjustment in January 2026. – Bernama
