KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all Malaysians to use the Deepavali celebration as an opportunity to continue fostering goodness, mutual respect and harmony in a multicultural and multi-faith society.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said that despite their cultural and religious diversity, Malaysians shared the same values of love, understanding and the desire to live together in peace and harmony.

“This is the beauty of Malaysia that we must continue to preserve. Happy Deepavali to everyone celebrating!” he said.

Anwar also uploaded a two-minute-and-12-second video highlighting his visit to the 2026 Deepavali Mega Bazaar in Brickfields.

Hindus across the country will celebrate Deepavali, also known as the Festival of Lights, this Sunday.
