SEPANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today inspected preparations at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) ahead of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026, which begins tomorrow.
Anwar said he also spent time meeting F1 fans attending the pit lane walk, as well as volunteers and personnel involved in ensuring preparations for the event run smoothly.
“I appreciate the close cooperation between Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in making this event a success,” he said in a post on social media today.
Anwar also expressed his appreciation to the organisers, personnel and volunteers for their commitment to ensuring that all arrangements are carried out in an orderly and safe manner.
“May the event run smoothly and leave meaningful memories for fans and visitors, while also elevating Malaysia’s name on the world motorsport stage,” he said.
Formula 1 makes its return to Malaysia this weekend after an almost 10-year absence, but in a format unlike the Malaysian Grand Prix fans once knew.
From Oct 2 to 4, SIC will host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, bringing Bahrain’s flagship F1 event to the Malaysian circuit.
