Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Dr Wan Azizah pay final respects to Tun Dr Siti Hasmah ahead of her funeral and burial in Putrajaya
SERI KEMBANGAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today paid their final respects to Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali at Masjid As-Syarif, Taman Sungai Besi Indah here.
Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah arrived at the mosque at 4 pm ahead of the funeral prayers for the wife of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and conveyed their condolences to the former prime minister and members of the family.
Anwar was also seen shaking hands and having a brief conversation with Tun Dr Mahathir.
Earlier, members of the public, dignitaries and foreign representatives had gathered at the mosque to pay their last respects to Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.
Anwar, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s family members and other attendees later performed the Asar prayers.
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s remains will be taken to the Pusara Negara (National Cemetery) in Precinct 20, Putrajaya this evening for the burial ceremony.
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning at the age of 100.
