KOTA KINABALU: The Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu has expressed concern over a video circulating on social media that appears to show a political party flag being placed on a church signboard.

Archbishop Datuk John Wong Soo Kau described the incident as regrettable if confirmed, stressing that church properties should not be linked to any political or non-faith activities.

With the Sabah state election approaching, the Archbishop urged all political parties to advise their workers against attaching flags, banners, or posters on church property, emphasizing the importance of keeping places of worship separate from political campaigns.

He said it takes such matters seriously and hopes for responsible conduct from all parties in the lead-up to the election.
