Aaron and Roy King continued their impressive debut run at the Super 500 tournament.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia experienced mixed fortunes at the Arctic Open 2026 in Vantaa, Finland, on Saturday as newly formed men’s doubles pair Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King stormed into the final while professional men’s singles player Lee Zii Jia bowed out in the semi-finals.

Aaron and Roy King continued their impressive debut run at the Super 500 tournament, dispatching Danish duo Christian Faust Kjær-Rasmus Kjær in straight games, 21-14, 21-16 in just 37 minutes.

The duo will then face Lai Po Yu-Tsai Fu Cheng from Taiwan.

However, it was the end of the road for Zii Jia, who fell short in a three-game thriller against Denmark’s fourth seed, Anders Antonsen.

The world number 56 Malaysian put up a resilient fight before losing 11-21, 21-15, 16-21 to the world number six.

The defeat also gave Antonsen the edge in their head-to-head record, breaking the 5-5 deadlock after their 10 previous meetings..

Despite the exit, Zii Jia showed promising signs of regaining his best form in Finland, highlighted by his 21-11, 21-16 upset of tournament second seed Christo Popov of France in the quarter-finals on Friday.
