Defending champions Argentina have the highest probability of reaching the World Cup final among the remaining teams at just under 30%, football data analysts Opta said on Sunday.
France, 2018 champions and runners-up four years' ago, are directly behind on 28.61%. Les Bleus are the top favourites for the title with a win probability of 18.73%.
Argentina great Lionel Messi has already netted six goals at this tournament to become the all-time top scorer in men's World Cups.
His side also have a favourable path to the final.
They face debutants Cape Verde in the round of 32 on Friday and could then play Australia or Egypt.
Reaching the quarter-finals would mean a meeting with Switzerland, Algeria, Colombia or Ghana.
Only in the semi-finals could Argentina clash with heavyweights such as Brazil or England. A repeat of the 2022 final against France is then possible.
