Argentinian President Javier Milei's Cabinet chief, Manuel Adorni, has resigned after months of corruption allegations and an investigation into suspected illicit enrichment.

"I have been treated as a criminal and as corrupt, even though not a single act of corruption can be attributed to me," Adorni wrote in a resignation letter. He described the allegations against him as lies.

Adorni had served as Cabinet chief since November after previously working as Milei's government spokesman.

Prosecutors had opened an investigation into Adorni over the allegations. Among other things, he is accused of buying properties for significantly more money than he should have been able to afford.

Adorni had come under increasing pressure in recent weeks.
