Kota Kinabalu: World-renowned arm wrestler Devon Larratt and his wife, Jodi, are exploring Sabah's tourism attractions during their visit for the East vs West International Arm Wrestling Competition, which is being held in Malaysia for the first time.
The Canadian couple arrived on Wednesday and were welcomed by Sabah Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit during a traditional Sabahan dinner, here.
As part of a familiarisation programme organised by the Sabah Tourism Board, they are scheduled to visit Kinabalu National Park, Mari-Mari Cultural Village, the Klias river area, island destinations and the Gaya Street Sunday Market.
Larratt said he was excited to experience Sabah for the first time and meet athletes from across the region, adding that sporting events often encourage travel by combining competition with cultural experiences.
The East vs West International Arm Wrestling Competition on June 20 and the Sabah International Arm Wrestling Competition on June 21 at Centre Point Sabah are expected to attract more than 150 participants from 13 countries.
