An armed forces retiree was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car on Jalan Kampung Pandan, with the driver arrested for investigation.

KUALA LUMPUR: An armed forces retiree was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car along Jalan Kampung Pandan here on Monday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said that the man, 45, was riding his Yamaha 135LC in the left lane and hit the right side of a BMW that came out of a junction from the left side of the road.

“Due to the collision, the victim suffered severe injuries to his head and body and was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment, where he died while being treated at the emergency ward,” he said in a statement today, adding that the BMW driver, 44, along with other passengers in the car was unhurt.

Reviews of CCTV footage at a nearby premises revealed that the driver had come to the location to pick up his friend before heading out towards Damansara.

The car driver, who was arrested yesterday to facilitate investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

He urged those with information to contact the Tun H S Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or the nearest police station.
