BETONG - A Malaysian Army (TDM) personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for nearly 15 minutes to save a man who was found unconscious at Sungai Nanga Mujau, Spak, here today.
The First Division Infantry Malaysia (1 Div) said in a statement that the incident occurred at about 11am when personnel from B Company, 13th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (13 RAMD) were carrying out a humanitarian operation to distribute mineral water to residents of Rumah Mujau.
According to the statement, during the operation, the soldiers heard members of the public shouting for help after one of their family members fell into a nearby river.
The victim was pulled to the riverbank by his family members but was unconscious.
Recognising the critical situation, Corporal Mohammad Badrulamin Mohd Rosdi from B Company, 13 RAMD immediately performed CPR.
"The professional and consistent action of performing CPR for nearly 15 minutes finally brought the victim to a semi-conscious state, enabling him to be safely taken away from the riverbank,” it added.
The victim was then transported in an Army Hilux pickup truck to the Layar Health Clinic in Spak at 11.15 am before being placed in the Emergency Zone at noon for further monitoring by medical officers.
TDM hailed the actions of Mohammad Badrulamin and the personnel from B Company, 13 RAMD, saying it reflected the unit’s readiness not only in carrying out disaster relief and logistical assistance missions, but also in safeguarding the safety and lives of the local community. - BERNAMA
