Arradaza sets world record in speed cubing

MANILA, Philippines — Crimson Arradaza, who turned 15 Wednesday, set a world record in 5.33 seconds in the first round of the 3x3x3 one-handed speed cubing event of the first Philippine National Speed Cubing Open 2026 on Thursday at the Tagaytay City Combat Arena.

The event was staged by the Philippine Olympic Committee, headed by president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, in partnership with the Asian Mind Sports Association.

Arradaza, an incoming ninth grader at the Balay Sofia Inc. in Baguio City, broke the previous world mark of 5.66 seconds set by Switzerland’s Dhruva Sai Meruva in October 2024 at Swiss Nationals 2024 in Basel. Arradaza advances to the eight-player final set later Thursday. TMT
