Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has fallen foul of new rules regarding dissent from managers.
The young Spanish head coach, who is known for his unruly behavior on the sidelines, was waving an imaginary card at fourth official John Brooks during the Community Shield against Manchester City on Sunday.
Arteta was then shown a yellow card by the referee Stuart Atwell, with the FA instructing referees to treat all managers this way.
Any players or coaches who show dissent will have to be very careful about their behavior.
"We have to have people behaving better. Everybody would agree it went too far last season. The one thing that was very evident was the amount of crowding the referees," ex-Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher told Sky Sports.
"It reached a high. It's not about more yellow and red cards, it's about sending out a message of 'we don't want to do that'. So the only way we won't be able to do that is if you back off.
"I hope it's short-term pain for long-term gain because we don't want to see players in the stands suspended. But if it has to be, it has to be. That's what I hope, that's what the PGMOL hope and I think the stakeholders want the same."
