- Arthur Fery claimed his first ATP Tour win since August by beating Marin Cilic at the Shanghai Masters on Wednesday.
- The Brit, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in July, has struggled in recent tournaments but managed to hold his nerve to take the first set on a tie-break.
- Fery then raced through the second set as he dropped just one game in securing a 7-6, 6-1 victory over the former US Open champion.
- Cilic won the US Open back in 2014, and also reached the Wimbledon final in 2017 and the Australian Open final the following year.
- Fery is due to face the 26th seed Karen Khachanov in the next round after coming through his opening test in Shanghai.
