PBRS president Arthur Joseph Kurup defeats incumbent Ellron Angin in Sook with 4,727-vote majority in five-cornered contest.

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup has captured the Sook seat in the 17th Sabah State Election.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security defeated incumbent Datuk Ellron Angin of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, who had held the seat since 2008.

According to official Election Commission results, the Pensiangan Member of Parliament contested under the Barisan Nasional ticket and won the five-cornered contest with a 4,727-vote majority.

The Sook state seat has 20,349 registered voters and is one of three state seats under the Pensiangan parliamentary constituency.

The other state seats in the constituency are Tulid and Nabawan. – Bernama
