
Punjab’s young hockey talent Akashdeep, a member of the Indian men’s Under-18 hockey team that recently won the Asia Cup in Japan, received a warm welcome on his return to the Olympian Surjit Hockey Academy, where he has been training for the past five years.
The prestigious academy is known for producing several Olympians. The coaches celebrated Akashdeep’s achievement with great pride.
Academy coach Yudwinder Singh expressed immense pride in Akashdeep’s accomplishment. “This is a proud moment for all of us. Akashdeep is a dedicated and hardworking player. This is just the beginning of his journey and I am confident that he will achieve much more in life and bring greater laurels to the country," he said.
Akashdeep began learning hockey at the age of seven and has shown remarkable commitment to the sport ever since. His father Ashok Kumar has also been a hockey player and has played an important role in encouraging his son’s passion for the game.
“The Asia Cup victory marks a significant milestone in Akashdeep’s career. We have watched him grow as a player and this is an emotional moment for us as well," his coaches said.
