The Asian Tour has unveiled the schedule for its 2027 Qualifying School, featuring five first-stage tournaments across the United States and Thailand before the Final Stage in Hua Hin, where 35 players will earn Tour cards.
The Asian Tour has officially opened entries for its 2027 Qualifying School, with five First Stage events scheduled across the United States and Thailand as aspiring professionals bid to secure playing rights for next season.
The qualifying campaign will begin at Soboba Springs Golf Club in California from Nov 17-20, marking the fourth consecutive year the Tour has staged a First Stage event in the United States.
The remaining four First Stage tournaments will be held in Thailand. Pattana Sports Resort in Chonburi will host Section B from Dec 1-4, while Sections C, D and E will take place simultaneously from Dec 8-11 at Phoenix Gold Golf Bangkok in Bangkok, Grand Prix Golf Club in Kanchanaburi and Pomelo Golf Club in Nakhon Pathom.
Each First Stage event will be contested over 72 holes, with at least 18% of the field progressing to the Final Stage at Lake View Resort & Golf Club in Hua Hin from Dec 16-20.
The Final Stage will be played over five rounds, with the leading 140 players and ties after 36 holes advancing to the third and fourth rounds. A second cut after 72 holes will reduce the field to the top 70 players and ties for the final round, with the top 35 finishers earning Category 16 Asian Tour membership for the 2027 season.
Asian Tour Commissioner and CEO Cho Minn Thant said the Qualifying School remains a vital pathway for emerging talent to break into professional golf.
“The Asian Tour Qualifying School is an essential part of our pathways, playing such an important role in the careers of our members, and we are delighted the schedule is now confirmed and we are in position to accept entries,” he said.
He added that recent graduates have continued to prove the value of the programme, pointing to players such as John Catlin and Julien Sale, who made immediate impacts after earning their Tour cards.
Cho also highlighted new opportunities for players in 2027, with co-sanctioned events set to resume alongside the DP World Tour, providing additional avenues for progression while noting that an increasing number of Qualifying School graduates are winning tournaments or finishing inside the top 65 on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
A total of 201 players competed at last year’s Final Stage, with China’s Lin Yuxin emerging as medalist. The two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur champion has since enjoyed a strong debut season and is currently among six graduates ranked inside the top 65 on the Order of Merit, alongside Japan’s Tomohiro Ishizaka, American Marcus Plunkett, Australia’s Brett Rankin, Thailand’s Itthipat Buranatanyarat and the Philippines’ Lloyd Jefferson Go.
Recent Qualifying School winners include Japan’s Takumi Murakami in 2025, Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg in 2024 and Australia’s Jack Thompson in 2023. Catlin also made history by becoming the first player to graduate from Qualifying School and go on to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2024 while setting a new single-season prize money record.
