
Kota Kinabalu: A 33-year-old tourism agent claimed trial to causing grievous hurt to another man.
Yusuf Ab Nasir made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan after the charge was read to Yusuf.
Yusuf is accused of assaulting one Sulfikar Mundu, 36, who was Yusuf’s competitor, by using a sickle between 6.30pm and 7.10pm on Feb 26, this year at a jetty in Beringgis Mangrove Kinarut, Papar.
He was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and liable to a fine or whipping, on conviction.
His pre-trial case management was fixed on April 8 and Yusuf was released on bail of RM10,000 in a local surety.
Yusuf was also ordered to report to nearest police station once a month and warned to not tamper with the prosecution’s witnesses.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shaferrah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while counsel Datu Baginda Datu Laja defended Yusuf.
