SHAH ALAM, July 4 — Mental pressures are among issues Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei will highlight during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on Monday.

She said the state government must strengthen efforts to manage such issues, because suicide case numbers are still concerning even after the provision of counselling and psychological support.

“The Selangor government provides roving counselling and psychological services to prevent suicide, but case numbers are still worrying.

“I also want to touch on statistics and the decriminalisation of suicide attempts at the sitting,” she told Media Selangor.

Lim added that she will also bring up climate change issues, especially the heatwave, during the session, as their effects are harsher on vulnerable groups such as senior citizens and children.

“On the heatwave, I have asked the relevant exco to submit developments on and the state government’s management of raw water supplies ahead of the drought,” she said.

She also urged all assemblymen to focus on issues that affect the people, not political agendas.

“My hope is that the administration can table the state’s economic direction in conjunction with the 13th Malaysia Plan’s tabling by the (federal) government on July 31,” she said.

The state assembly sitting, which starts Monday, is set to cover various important issues, including the Petronas gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights on April 1.

Speaker Lau Weng San said focus will also be given to the Shah Alam Sports Complex project, floods, and high-impact investment initiatives.

The session will be held at the Annexe Hall here, with the first leg from July 7 to 11 and the second from July 14 to 18.

The state assembly sitting will be broadcast on selangortv.my and all Media Selangor social media pages, as well as on MYTV.
