- Aston Villa defeated top-of-the-table Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park, inspired by a brace from striker Nicolas Jackson.
- Jackson’s first goal was smashed into the top-left corner, and his second a low driven shot past City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
- The Citizens fell short despite a brilliant headed goal by Haaland for his ninth of the year.
- Manchester City will maintain their grip on the top of the table even in defeat because of their superior goal difference, regardless of whether Arsenal win against Everton this afternoon.
- Aston Villa climbed to sixth following the win, having played one game more than the teams around them.
