Astro, RTM now official M’sian League broadcasters: MFL

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Football League (MFL) today announced Astro and RTM as their official broadcasters for the 2023 season.

In a statement, MFL said that the partnership will allow for more comprehensive coverage of the upcoming Malaysian League for local football fans.

The matches to be broadcasted by Astro in high-definition include the Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup and the Sumbangsih Cup, which takes place on February 24 between Johor Darul Ta’zim and Terengganu FC.

RTM, meanwhile, will broadcast 75 Malaysian League matches that include the Sumbangsih Cup, Super League, FA Cup, and Malaysia Cup through TV2, Sukan RTM, TV Okey, or through the RTMKlik app.

MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan said the presence of Astro and RTM will add to the upcoming 2023 season’s excitement.

“I believe the support and commitment from local broadcasters not only increase fans’ viewing satisfaction but also the Malaysian League’s value, which in the end provide returns for the teams and players,” he said in the statement.

Meanwhile MFL chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam said the combination of Astro and RTM as the league’s broadcaster will satisfy fans who want a comprehensive and exciting coverage.

“MFL believes that these two broadcasters share the objective and focus on important content, that is why we have found the best partners to rebuild the brand and take the Malaysian League to a higher level.

“With Astro and RTM’s expertise and experience in sports broadcasting, we hope that it will meet the expectations of all the fans,” he said.

MFL recently announced the introduction of evening kick-off times for the season, with matches starting at 5.30pm or 5.15pm for Peninsular Malaysia and 4.30pm and 4.45pm for Sabah and Sarawak. – The Vibes, February 1, 2023.
