- At least 62 people have died and over 40 were injured following three days of severe flooding in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
- Nearly 1,000 homes were damaged and 154 animals killed after the state recorded 775 per cent more rainfall than normal between 25 and 27 September.
- Authorities closed schools in several regions, including Lucknow, and evacuated residents as major rivers exceeded danger levels.
- Flooding also impacted the eastern state of Odisha, prompting the evacuation of around 75,000 people from low-lying areas.
- In neighbouring Nepal, severe weather triggered floods and landslides that killed at least 21 people and damaged nearly 200 homes.
