Appropriate Technology Centre (ATC), Shahpur, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with an awareness rally on Friday. This year’s theme, ‘Inspired by nature for climate, for our future’, highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living.
The programme was inaugurated by Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania, who planted saplings at Shahpur Ground and subsequently flagged off the environment awareness and anti-chitta rally. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility that requires sustained public participation.
“Planting a tree is not enough; nurturing it until it grows into a healthy tree is equally important,” he said, stressing the need for community involvement in environmental conservation efforts.
The rally commenced from Shahpur Ground and concluded at the Government ITI campus. Approximately 300 students from various schools and Government ITI Shahpur participated in the rally. Officers and officials from different departments, members of youth clubs and local residents also joined the event in large numbers, demonstrating their commitment to environmental protection and a drug-free society.
