Attempt to smuggle petrol: Man held in Semporna

SEMPORNA: The Marine Police detained a 35-year-old local and seized 800 litres of petrol, here, Thursday.

Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Nazri Ibrahim, said at about 2.50pm, the team apprehended and inspected a 4WD driven by the man.

Advertisement“Upon inspection, the team discovered 32 jerry cans containing 25 litres of petrol in the vehicle.

“The driver failed to produce a legal permit from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living,” he said, adding that the driver and the vehicle were later brought to Semporna Marine base for further action.

In the meantime, Nazri reminds members of the public not to be involved in smuggling activities as legal action will be taken against them.
