
SEMPORNA: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN) has dismantled an alleged subsidised petrol embezzlement syndicate and seized 3,000 litres of petrol.
Semporna KPDN Chief Enforcement Officer Dr. Jong Jee Leong said the seizure was made under Op Tiris on a gas station, here, on Thursday.
AdvertisementThe syndicate's modus operandi was using a lorry and filling it up with petrol at several gas stations before the petrol was distributed in the black market.
"Result of inspection on all the trucks found 120 jerry cans containing liquid believed to be petrol amounting to 3,000 litres. A lorry suspected of carrying the petrol was seized for further investigation. All the seizures were estimated to be worth RM53,369,” he said in a press statement on Saturday.
