
Kota Kinabalu: A 24-year-old man was jailed 11 months for trying to steal items from a car.
Shahrul Fikri Azlan admitted before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin, to the charge against him.
He dishonestly attempted to steal from the car belonging to a 43-year-old woman at 2.30pm on Feb 9 this year at the Di Aru Suites Tanjung Aru, here.
Shahrul was charged under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, a 54-year-old man was charged with fighting in public.
Calvin Glen Graham Chew pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali, to committing the offence at 8.30pm on Jan 14 this year at the Tionghua Funeral Parlour, here.
He was charged under Section 160 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to six months or a fine of up to RM1,000 or both, on conviction.
The court set June 3 this year for pre-trial case management and released Calvin on bail of RM1,000 in a local surety.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Yuvan Bharatam prosecuted the case.
