Australian singer John Williamson gave an emotional performance at the Ashes to honour those affected by the Bondi Beach attack on Sunday, which left 15 people dead and 42 injured.

The singer led a rendition of his 1982 anthem True Blue before a minute’s silence was held at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday (17 December).

The England and Australia teams stood alongside each other with flags flying at half-mast, as players wore black armbands throughout the match.

“Everyone in Australian cricket continues to mourn the victims of the Bondi shootings,” Cricket Australia said in an Instagram post.

South Australia Police confirmed an increased security presence at the stadium, including armed officers on the ground.
