Authorities urged to act over “Stateless Card”

LAHAD DATU: Authorities have been urged to investigate an NGO allegedly offering assistance with MyKAS applications and issuing a “Stateless Card”.

Lahad Datu GRS Youth Chief Mohd Ar Razee AbdulHam (pic) said individuals lacking complete identification documents had reportedly borrowed up to RM3,500 from relatives or employers for the services.

He said the NGO was reportedly active in Lahad Datu, Semporna, Pitas, Tawau, Sandakan and Kudat, and called for action if any laws or public trust had been breached.

Mohd Ar Razee reminded the public that MyKAS does not confer citizenship and urged applicants to use official channels to avoid exploitation or deception.

The National Registration Department said Wednesday it had never appointed any NGO, individual or external agent to handle MyKAS applications or guarantee their approval.
