
LAHAD DATU: A Perodua Kancil caught fire at Kampung Bikang, here, on Friday.
District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Sumsoa Rashid, said a team of firefighters was deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 3.28pm.
“The vehicle was 100 per cent destroyed in the incident. The team later called off the operation at 4pm upon ensuring no other dangers at the scene.
“No casualty was reported and the cause of fire is still being investigated,” he added.
In SANDAKAN, a Naza Kia Sorento caught fire at Taman Harbour View, eraly Saturday morning.
Sandakan District Fire and Rescue Station received a distress call at 3.38am and a team of firefighters was rushed to the scene, about 3km from the station.
There was no casualty while the operation ended at 4.15am. Cause of fire is still under investigation.
In LAHAD DATU, three people including a five-year-old boy were injured when their Proton Saga was involved in an accident with a Toyota Vios at Jalan Lahad-Sandakan on Friday.
Fire and Rescue Department’s spokesperson said a distress call was received at 7.07pm via MERS999.
A team of Fire and Rescue
personnel from Lahad Datu was rushed to the scene with a fire engine and EMRS Vehicle.
“Upon arrival, the team discovered that the accident involved three vehicles and eight people including four women.
“One of the victims was trapped inside his vehicle and our personnel managed to extricate the victim. Two other passengers in the same vehicle sustained injuries.
“Five other victims are safe and escaped unhurt. All the injured victims were given early treatment by EMRS team and ambulance before taken to Hospital,” he said.
The operation ended at 8.35pm after the team confirmed that everything was safe.
