The first Avatar, which was released in 2009, still holds the record for being the highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office, with a lifetime gross of USD 2.9 billion. The sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, released in 2022 and grossed USD 2.3 billion at the box office.

The official Instagram handle of Disney+ finally revealed the streaming release date for Avatar: Fire and Ash. The film will start streaming on Disney+ from 24 June 2026. It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet.
What is the plot of Avatar 3?
Avatar: Fire and Ash picks up after the tragic death of Neteyam, following the Sully family’s big battle against the RDA. The plot further explores the grief of the Sully family as Jake starts doubting everything he’s known and learned, including Pandora’s spiritual deity. They must also confront the Ash People, an aggressive Na’vi clan led by the ruthless Varang.
What about the upcoming Avatar movies?
The upcoming sequels will explore the wind traders introduced in Fire and Ash. However, you will have to wait a couple of years to witness the action. The next and fourth Avatar film is expected to be released in 2029, followed by the fifth movie releasing in 2031. The plot is expected to jump in time as the Sully children grow up and wander off to their own wild adventures.
