Kota Kinabalu: Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli called on PKR members to uphold a healthy internal political culture, particularly in the lead-up to the coming Sabah State Election (PRN17).

He said PKR’s strength lies not just in electoral strategy, but in fostering a principled and people-centered political culture within the party.

“We must be careful in how we manage the political culture within our party. Let’s not repeat past mistakes where personal ambition and factional interests were placed above the ideals of our struggle,” he said during a roadshow of Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi dalam Ujian Kuasa (Hiruk), here, Saturday.

“Internal divisions, power struggles and elitist politics are among the biggest threats to the party’s grassroots strength,” he said.

Rafizi also reminded that peninsula-based parties must avoid imposing unsuitable models or tactics in Sabah, which requires a localised and sensitive approach to its unique political context.

“If we bring in toxic political culture, not only will we fail to win the hearts of Sabahans, we will also lose sight of the core values of our own struggle,” he said.
