PUTRAJAYA - The Energy Commission (ST) has advised the public not to overload sockets with excessive electrical devices or high-power appliances and to refrain from using mobile phones while charging.

In a festive season safety advisory issued today, the commission reminded the public to switch off unused electrical appliances and devices at home before leaving for their hometowns or going on vacation.

The ST also advised the public to use cooking appliances that have the ST-SIRIM safety label.

"Do not bring equipment or devices that can cause ignition or sparks near the cooking area," it added. - BERNAMA
